Kate Norris Co-Owner and Winemaker…

….the most mystical, magical thing about wine is that it’s a moment in time captured in a bottle.

Kate norris

Kate Norris

Division Winemaking Company an award winning urban winery in Portland, Oregon, US makes approachable and balanced wines with great price to quality value. Kate lived in Boudes, France surrounded by vines and with several village winemakers.

Kate met her business partner Thomas Monroe Co-Owner and Winemaker in California. Thomas moved to St Louis for business school and as part of his degree wrote a business plan for a winery. 2008 both Kate and Thomas moved to Auvergne and Beaujolais regions of France and studied academic and practical winemaking. What drives Kate to make wine?

…incredible way to connect with mother earth…and at the end of the day it makes people happy.

Kate Norris

Kate supports “no rules” in winemaking an example is the Pinot Noir method carbonique which is considered a barrier breaker. The carbonic method fermentation a popular process in Beaujolais. When Kate moved to Oregon and started using the same method. It was not common and considered cheerful or less serious. Kate thinks the process unravels the wine’s pure essence and inspires wine drinkers to try something different.

Mimi Casteel a local woman winemaker and wine grower in Oregon with her own wine brand Hope Well has been an inspiration for Kate.
